Flower Goodie Box

I thought I’d celebrate spring with a little flower goodie box and share a tutorial for it with you.  Just in case you have a few little treats to share with a special someone

To create the box decoration, you will need a large flower stamp.  I used the Dragonfly Flower from Impression Obsession.  I really like this stamp artist – her designs are whimsical but still elegant.  

I also used the leaf stamps from the Damask Floral clear set (by the same artist), but  you could cut leaves from paper instead.  I included 2 sketched leaves with the box template.

The box is made from an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of patterned or plain cardstock. 

You can print this template on the back side of the cardstock and cut it out on the black lines, then score on the gray lines.

The box folds up by folding on the score lines and tucking the tab into the slot on the short sides.  Then slip the two slotted long sides together over the top of the closed short sides.  The box with hold a few special treats (maybe some Hershey Hugs and Kisses).

I stamped my flower and leaves in Memento Tuxedo ink and cut out around them.  I also snipped the flower petals apart a little (deeper than the stamp lines). 

I used a soft pad (this is a piercing pad – but you can just use a mouse pad) and a stylus and bone folder to shape the flower and leaves.  Basically, you rub the stylus over ares you want to be cupped – applying pressure to shape the paper.  For larger areas you can use the bone folder. 

I colored the flowers and leaves with my Copic markers, pulling the flower colors from the Basic Gray paper I had chosen to make my box. 

Then you just adhere the flower on one of the long ends of the box and the leaves one the other – being careful not to adhere them over the box slits. 

You may want to assemble your box so you can see where you want to position you flower and leaves.

I added some Crystal Ice Stickles to the drafonfly wings and the veins on the leaves to give some sparkle (I always to that last – otherwise I smudge it every time!).

And that is it – a cheerful little gift for a special someone.
