I love history. Not so much the “who defeated who in the battle of what” kind of history – I’m more interested in how people actually lived day-to-day. When you start to learn some of that stuff, it boggles the mind. You can’t help but have enormous respect for people living then (especially – in my humble opinion – the women). And to think I gripe about doing laundry!!
So I was excited to find these Colonial Williamsburg historical stamps from Impression Obsession (and of course had to get some!).
The one I used here is called Colonial Well. Its drawn from one of the historical buildings (I’ve been there and saw it in person!). This is stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copic markers. I inked the edges of all the papers with Vintage Photo Distress ink and a duster brush. The sentiment was cut out and matted using the Spellbinders Tag 4 dies.
Now, I love coloring and find it very relaxing, but sometimes you just don’t have the time. So here is a no coloring version. For this version, I tried to make an antique looking image.
I stamped Colonial Well in Memento Rich Cocoa, and then stamped over the top with a Crackle Background stamp using the lighter Desert Sand Memento ink. Then I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink and a duster brush.
I wanted the image to have the feel of china or tile, so I pressed my Versamark pad over the entire surface and embossed the whole image with clear embossing powder.
So that is my second version. I also want to try this in blue – kind of like Deft China. I bet that might look nice too.
Well, I’m off to wrestle with some mulch (hoping the rain holds off). Tonight I’m leading my Brownie troop in a scrap-booking adventure. This is their last meeting as Brownies (they move up next year). So I thought it might be nice to have them make a memory album. Wish me luck!

Wonderful cards!! Such a nostalgic feel to them. great job!
Hope the brownie meeting goes well!
