Halloween Rice Crispie Treat boxes with a template

3boxex450px1I love Rice Crispie Treats (especially the pre-made ones!).  I like to pretend that they are not really junk food because it has cereal….  Right???

So here is a little project to make boxes for giving the treats for Halloween.

The template can be printed on the back side of your cardstock.  Each sheet of cardstock will make two treat boxes.  If you wish, you can score the folds before you cut the boxes apart (sometimes that is faster).  Also, if you have a corner rounder you can just clip the box top flap corners instead of cutting by hand.

You can download the template here.

I thought I’d share with you how I embellished some of my little boxes.

For the pumpkin box, I used the Pumpkin Pals Cling stamp set for the main image.  I colored it with Copics and cropped it close and matted it with black.   The sky is colored with the new BV000 Copic Marker.  I’m really enjoying the new colors!

pumpkinbox1I made the box with Classic Orange Prism cardstock.  Before I folded, I stamped the box with the Ornate Tapestry Background using Versafine Onyx black ink – I kind of like the classic black and orange  “Halloweeniness”.

Then I folded the box – applying adhesive to the side flaps.

For the Ghost box, I used the Pumpkin Pals Cling stamp set again.

This time, I used my Spiderweb Cuttlebug Embossing folder to decorate the box.

After I cut out my box, I scored only the first 2″ score (so I would have a measurement of where the box back is).  Then I embossed the top part of the box, lining the edge of the folder up with the score line.

webbox2I flipped the embossing folder around and embossed the other part of the box.  I scored my fold lines after I did the embossing (otherwise the embossing pressed the score lines back out, making the box harder to fold).

webbox3Finally, I gently rubbed Cloud White Versamagic ink over the embossed spiderweb to make it stand out.

skelboxThe last box used Mr. Bones from the Happy Halloweenie Cling set (I love that guy!).  I stamped him, colored him with Copics and cut him out.  I added a little crystal lacquer (inspired by Mel!)  – but it does not show in the photo.  I also gave him a black matte.

The box is made with Prism Intense Kiwi paper (one of my all time favorites!).  Its stamped with the Cheesecloth background stamp in Memento Bamboo Leaves.

So there is my little project – now to keep myself from eating all the Rice Crispie Treats (they are really good with coffee!!)
