Birthday Challenge #4

Posted by on Mar 26, 2010 in challenges | 33 comments

Well the Birthday party month is starting to wind down, but we still have one more party game up our sleeve.

For this week’s party game, we want to see your cards with embossing.  It can be any kind (embossing powder, embossing folders, embossed dies, embossing stencils,  etc.).  We want to see your favorite way to emboss.  Put a link to your card in a comment on this post before Monday April 5.

The prize this time is two Mo Manning stamps – perfect for all the teen and tween girls in your life.

For my sample, I wanted to create a simple card that I could use for different occasions (thank you, hello, thinking of you, etc.).   I used the Frills cling mounted stamp by Impression Obsession.

I stamped it along the bottom edge of a 4″ by 5 1/4″ piece of Basic Grey Porcelain paper in Versamark ink and embossed it in copper embossing powder.  Then I painted the design with pearlescent watercolor paint (the embossing makes it easy to paint – you don’t have to be so careful -love that).

Then I freehand cut along the bottom of the paper.  I adhered the cut image on a 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ piece of Sage Dark cardstock and added the ribbon.   I adhered the cardstock to my card base and free hand cut the image again leaving a boarder.

This left a card front with a cut pattern bottom edge.  To finish off the design, I added a small panel to the inside bottom of the card with the same cardstock and patterned paper (this also will keep me from accidentally writing where it would show!).  Just a little something that’s different than a regular straight edged card.

Some of the design team members also created some lovely embossed cards.

Tricia created this beauty – with an embossed panel.  Tricia used the Flourishes Year of Flowers 1 clear stamp set and paper from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh paper pad.

Amber created this lovely card with a big, beautiful ribbon rose!  Amber used the Cover-a-card Small Paisley background and the Basic Grey Origins paper pad on her creation.

I hope you decide to play along with us (we’ll save you some Birthday cake).

And don’t forget that you still have until Monday, March 29 to enter Birthday challenge #3.
