I actually made something I pinned!

So… I pinned these cookies on Pinterest way back when I joined.  I’ve been inspired by a lot of the things I’ve pinned, but this is the first thing I’ve actually made (I should say we made – the girls helped).

I give you – melted snowman cookies.  The perfect winter Birthday treat to take to school.

Since we needed enough for 2 classes, its a snowman army!

A little help from one Birthday Girl….

And the other… (the scarf expert)

Hey – no sneaking snacks….

We still need arms!!

Miscellaneous crafty post….

Just thought I’d share some miscellaneous crafty projects.  The girls have been busy this year!

So… I made these little Santas? (or elves?) years and years ago – but recently found the directions while cleaning out old Christmas stuff (you know – those boxes that usually never even make it out of the basement).

Do you think the pattern could be altered (with different fabrics and such) to make garden gnomes to decorate for spring?  What if I add little felt vests?  I haven’t sewn in ages and this looks like the right size project to start with LOL!

In other crafty news…  thought I’d share our annual Thanksgiving ornaments for this year.  (Every year we make Christmas ornaments between dinner and dessert).  This year we tried glass ornaments with alcohol inks and acrylic paint.  I think the girls did a great job.  I love Molly’s little Santa.

We also went to Tyler Arboretum to a Natural Materials Ornament class and made some little critters.  Some other girls from our former Girl Scout troop came too, so it was a lot of fun.

That’s my crafty news… I’d love to hear about other ornament ideas for kids (need to start planning next Thanksgiving’s project!)

Holiday Card Challenge winner!

Wow! you guys make some awesome holiday cards! I so enjoyed seeing all your creations.

I drew a prize winner using Random.org – Lisa (#10) won. Lisa, I sent you an e-mail.

We had a great Halloween – the weather was perfect and the kids had a blast trick-or-treating. I’m not sure what we are going to do with those 3 huge bowls of candy.

The good news – we got milk duds!!  I love those – but sometimes I worry a bit about my old fillings though :o ) .

We also got our first hard frost – I rescued my bird house gourds just in time.  We ended up with 18 gourds!

So from what I’ve read – I have to hang these in my basement till May to dry them.  If anyone has any useful advice about turning the gourds into actual birdhouses I’d love to hear it.
