Keeping Border Punches Straight
I’ll go back to posting cards and stuff… promise. I just wanted to share this little tip about border punches. Something that probably everyone else in the universe knows – but just in case….. When I first started using my Lacy Days border punch, we were not quite getting along. I kept ending up with edges that were not perfectly straight. It would kind of go “uphill”. They were just off by a little but it was driving me nuts. Turns out it was operator error...

I made a set of thank you cards with the Pink Lemonade paper kit. I really like these papers. They remind me a little of my daughters’ sundresses. That’s what inspired me to add the scalloped border below the matted sentiment. It looks a little like eyelet lace to me. (the strip is made with the Threading Water border punch). The stamp set is called Mega Thanks from Stampendous. I really like how quick and easy it is – just stamp and go. I used Versamagic Inks (Tea Leaves and...

I thought I’d share a card I made for a challenge group I belong to. The challenge was to make a card with unusual folds. I used the Cheery Birthday Card Kit to make the card. The kit contains the stamps, pattern paper, colored and white cardstock used (along with a bunch of embellies). So I decided to do a tri-fold. Although the top layer is only half as wide, so maybe its a 2.5-fold?? My base cardstock is 5 1/2″ high by 10 1/2″ long. I scored and folded at 4 1/8″ and...

I needed a new baby card for one of the women at my church. I decided to use the super cute Baby Blessings set from Impression Obsession. The set has a little boy outfit and a little girl dress – and the two sentiments. Cute, cute, cute! I pulled out my Basic Grey Oh Baby paper (I still love that line) to select the colors to use in the image. I decided to accent the blue and orange with just a little green. I mounted the patterned paper on an orange piece that I scored at top and bottom...

I thought I’d share a quick and easy technique today. I call it patterned paper emboss resist, but I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of it. And the other inventor may have even come up with a better name But anyway here it is. You need: A bold or solid image stamp A piece of patterned paper – the smaller your image, the finer the design on the paper should be. A dye ink pad that coordinates with the paper. Versamark ink and clear embossing powder. Stamp your...

I was playing with the Lizzy Anne Au Natural stamp set and came up with this card. I stamped the flower repeatedly, masking as I went along so some of the flowers appear to be behind others. I colored it with my Copics – but all I had was an extremely light purple and an extremely dark purple – so blending was a little tough. I’m teaching a class to new stampers this week – and I was going to mention ribbon tying. I always tie mine by cutting a separate piece and tying...
