Spring is in the air….

thistles1003I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I saw it!   I just love how cheerful and springy it is.

This is a cling stamp called Thistle Carden

I colored it with copic markers.   I also added some copic glitter pen but its hard to see in the picture.

The lacy border at the bottom was made with the Lace Heart edger punch – but covered the top part of the hearts.  (The paper is from my stash – I think its from WR Memory Keepers??)

I hope everyone is having a great week.  It finally stopped raining here and the sun is actually shining!

If you have time to stamp this week – don’t forget to enter our sketch challenge for the chance to win the Miss Anya stamp set.

Official Snow Tasters…

I’m so enjoying the new Eat Cake Graphics stamps.   I decided to use them to decorate a bakery bag full of yummy dried cherry- white chocolate chip – oatmeal cookies (recipe below).  I LOVE oatmeal cookies!

snowbakerybag

I decorated the bakery bag with cardstock and patterned paper strips from the Frosted Winter paper kit.  I punched the edges of the cardstock with the Scalloped Snowflake Border punch.

Before I glued on the upper strip, I added a little tag with a brad.  I also added a little ribbon fluff by gluing ribbon “V’s” behind the tag (the brad and ribbon are included in the paper kit).

The stamps I used are from the Official Snow Tasters Cling set.  This adorable  set even has a doggie playing along with the snow tasting (and it includes the snow too!).  The image is colored with Copics.

So what are you favorite Christmas cookies?  Most of my family are die hard chocolate chip (back of the Nestle bag but no nuts) fans .  But I love a good chewy oatmeal cookie.

I thought I’d share this recipe.    Don’t over bake if you like chewy.  These have a nice crisp edge and a lovely chewy middle.

Basic Recipe:

  • 1 cup butter – softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups quick cooking oats

Cream butter, white and brown sugar together.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.  Combine dry ingredients with creamed butter mixture.  Stir in the oats.  Chill the dough for at least an hour.

Preheat oven to 375 F.  Grease cookie sheets (or use non-stick).  Roll the dough into walnut size balls.  Place 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet and flatten slightly before baking.

Bake for 8 -10 minutes.

Optional additions:

Raisin Oatmeal cookies – Mix in  2/3 cup (or to taste) after the oatmeal.  If I’m adding raisins, I go a little scant on the white sugar.  I like to use the golden raisins and I “plump” them before I use them (a trick my Grandma taught me).  You put them in a bowl with water to just barley cover and microwave for 20-30 seconds.  Let them sit for a few minutes and then drain the water really well.

Cherry – White Chocolate Oatmeal cookies – add 2/3 cup dried cherries (dried cherries – not candied cherries.  If you can’t find dried cherries try cherry flavored dried cranberries) and about a third of a bag of Nestle white chocolate chips.   Again I skimp a little on the sugar to account for the sweet additions.

So that is one of my favorite cookies (I also love those thumbprint ones with the nuts – made with pecans and homemade strawberry jam.  Yum!).  What is your favorite?

Oh My! Even More New Eat Cake Graphics!

doggiesanta1209I’m so excited over the Eat Cake Graphics images that just came out.

I’ve always LOVED the little winter kids – and now there are even more new playmates!  They are all adorable.

But the first new stamp I wanted to play with is this Santa image.  All the stamps used for this card are in the new Santa’s Doggie Welcome Cling Set. (Well… I also used the Decorative Tile background stamp with Versamark ink).  The image is colored with Copics.

The paper is from the Classic Christmas Prism Cardstock collection and I added accents with the Diamond Elegance Border punch and the Square Steps Corner punch.

doggiesanta1209inHere is the inside – I’m quite tickled with the sentiments in this stamp set! (I just cut out a colored doggie and added it to the inside)

A couple quick reminders….

You still have till midnight tonight (EST) to link up your background stamped projects for a chance to win TWO background stamps.  All the details are in this post.

Also – in the Paper Garden Projects Store, all Christmas stamps (including this cute one) are 10% off.  Copic Sketch Markers are also 25% off
