I love this cute Mr. And Mrs Claus  stamp – and I thought Mr. Claus might like to give Mrs. Claus a little bag of kisses.   These mint kisses are really good (had to try one – how can I write an informative post without taste testing?).  And I love the little snowflake-y wrappers.

This post contains a tutorial and a template to make the treat bag, and the details for the card.

The Vellum Treat Bag:

The treat bag was made with cover weight vellum.  This is much heavier and stiffer than the vellum you usually find.

This template is very similar to the self locking treat bag template, but I moved the attachment point to the back of the bag since the clear vellum might show the adhesive.

I would recommend printing the template on paper or cardstock and using it as a guide to cut the vellum.  Any printing on the back of the vellum would also show through it.  Also, printer ink on vellum takes a while to dry and it can be easy to smear it.  I also recommend taking the time to score the fold lines before folding to keep the folds neat.

Fold on the score lines and apply adhesive on the side seam and the bottom flaps (I also put some on the tuck in flap on the bottom).

Vellum can pucker and wrinkle when it is exposed to water – so it you are using a water based glue, use as little as necessary.  Non liquid glues (glue runners, doublesided tape and glue dots) work well with vellum ( I love my Adhesive Tape Gun!!).  Nearly all glues will show through the vellum – but the seam in the back helps hide the glue.

For my treat bag, I embossed the top flap using the Cuttlebug Holly Ribbon Embossing Folder.  To hold the bag closed, I set 2 eyelets in the flap and then used them to to measure where 2 holes should be in the base of the bag.  A ribbon threaded through the eyelets and holes in the bag holds the flap closed.  Just pull the ribbon out to get at the kisses.

I also added a couple little red strips punched with a snowflake border punch to the flap and the bottom of the bag.

The Mr. and Mrs. Claus Card

I used this week’s  Card Positioning System sketch for my card (I think I’m still in time).

The stamps are from the Mr. and Mrs. Claus Cling stamp set with images by Eat Cake Graphics.  They are stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics (the red was really challenging me!  Try not to look too close!).

The paper is from the Classic Christmas Cardstock pack.  I really like the Kraft paper with the red.  I’m seeing kraft, red and white in a lot of places lately and really like it.

To coordinate the card with the little bag, I used the Holly Ribbon Cuttlebug folder on the kraft (and inked it with a little distress ink and a duster brush to bring out the detail).

I also punched a scrap of vellum left over from making the bag with the same snowflake border punch and added that as well.  I used the same ribbon too.  (the hardest part about this card was fitting the ribbon through the button holes!)

I thought (for a change) I’d do a little something extra to the inside of the card.  So I stamped the Mr. and Mrs. Clause in red through a hole punched in Eclipse paper (so I could just get their faces).  Then I stamped the sentiment that came with the set (“Merry Everything and Happy Always” – isn’t that sweet?)

So here is my finished inside with Mr. and Mrs. Clause peeking out.
