Halloween Garden Walk

Its garden tour time again, and we would like to “treat” you to a Halloween Garden Walk.  Don’t worry, just treats – no tricks!

Please note:  I’m off to go camping with the Girl Scouts this weekend  (wish me luck)  so my post is going up early.  The hop officially starts at 10:00 am EST on Saturday.

Take a stroll through the blogs of all the Paper Gardeners and enjoy some not-so-spooky inspiration.   This month we are focusing on Halloween – mostly on ways to serve up all those Halloween treats.

While you visit,  take note of each designer’s name and their special Halloween treat  in their blog post. Once you finish your garden tour, send an E-mail to custserv@papergardenprojects.com with the list of designers and their garden walk word.

Everyone who sends the correct list of designers and words will be entered in a random drawing to win a prize. You need to send an e-mail to the address above; please don’t leave your list as a comment. You have until midnight (EST) on Wednesday, September 22 to send your list.

And the prize?  How a bout this super cute set of Eat Cake Graphics Halloween stamps?

Here is the garden tour guide list.  I hope you find some “Boo”tiful ideas…..

For my treat project – I decided to decorate one of the little plastic purses (daughter M really loves these!) with a friendly Halloween theme.

Here is the front:

And here is the back:

The images are from the Pumpkin Pals cling set and the sentiment is from the Happy Halloweenie cling set.  Both sets contain some of my all time favorite Halloween images from Eat Cake Graphics.

The box comes with a white satin ribbon handle and I wanted to jazz it up a bit.  So I pulled out some black checkered ribbon from the “I Want It White”  embellishment collection.  This collection contains all kinds of ribbon and other embellishments that you can color with your Copics to match your projects (love that about my Copics!!).

I just went over the ribbon with my orange (YR-07) copic.  While I was at it I colored some scrappers floss (also in the I Want it While collection) to thread my bottons with.

I colored the pumpkin images and matted them on black.  I stamped the sentiment and made and orange and black matte for it.  I also colored some scrappers floss black for the orange buttons.  Here are all my project pieces – ready to assemble.

I pierced the box tab with my paper piercer to attach the button with the colored scrappers floss.  I also added buttons to my sentiment (the orange buttons came from the Tutti Frutti button mix).

I simply swapped out the ribbon handle (you could also just color the existing satin handle with Copics if you wish).

Then I just added the pumpkin images and sentiment (and added some yummy Reeses Peanut Butter cups!).

I’m Cathy and my Garden Walk Treat is Snickers.

I hope you are up for more treats.  Next in line is Amber – and she has a BIG treat for you!

Don’t be blue color challenge…

Well, you can be “blue”, just don’t be sad.

For this month’s Fourth Friday (shhh… don’t mention its the fifth Friday) challenge…. how about a color challenge?

Our challenge to you is to create a project that includes includes these three happy colors. You can add other colors if you wish – but include at lease a smidgen of each of these 3.

You have till midnight (EST) of Friday May 7 to  link your project.  You can use the link button at the bottom of this post.  We will draw one random winner for the prize.

ETA:  If you have any trouble with the linking – just leave a comment and we’ll make sure you get into the proze drawing.

The rules are:

It must be a newly created project for this challenge – but feel free to combine this challenge with any other ones out there.

We’d love to see all the art you care to share, but each person will only be entered in the drawing once.

The winner will be drawn randomly and announced the following Saturday.

In honor of Mother’s Day, the prize is this lovely Rachelle Anne Miller Bundle of Joy stamp.

For my project, I created a slider card.  Here it is closed:

Here it is open:

I used the tutorial in this blog post to make the card (it is the same technique, just different images).  Here are the card pieces:

I used the Summer Camp Cling stamp set and the Lake Shoreline cling stamp to create the card (all images by Eat Cake Graphics).   I colored the images with copic markers.   The sentiment is from the IO Anytime Sentiments set.

Here is some more inspiration from the Paper Gardeners (with more details on their blogs).  We all used Prism cardstock (Intense Kiwi, Suede Brown Medium and Baby blue dark) for our challenge colors.

Here is Andrea’s beautiful card.  She used the sentiment from the Bouquet of Joy clear set.  Look at those beautiful flowers she made.

Here is Erin’s cute little cowgirl.  Erin used the sweet Wild West Anya stamp from the Greeting Farm and did some mighty fine coloring.

Here is Linda’s adorable card.  Linda used the Princess for a day cling stamp set and Basic Grey Koshi papers.  Isn’t it lovely?

Here is Tangii’s super cool card.  I just love the way she combined cute little Ian with the Summer Note Block.  Perfect together!

We also have Tricia – with her adorable little mice from the Penny Black Its Your Day clear set.  So cute!

We’d love to see your take on the color challenge, so come play in the garden with us!

I’m trying some linking software to hopefully make these challenges easier – keep your fingers crossed!  You can link below just by clicking a button (I hope!).

A crisp autumn day…

A post – finally, can you believe it.  Its been a very busy week!

fallscene

I really liked this Fall Scene Cling Stamp by Impression Obsession the first time I saw it.  It just looked like a place I’d love to visit.  I bet there is homemade apple pie in that farm house!

card-partsFor this card, I decided to create even more of a background and a foreground by stamping twice and cutting out the foreground elements.  Here are my 2 pieces colored with Copic markers.  (not a great pic – sorry – I had to take it at night).

I found this super sparkly glitter in a small stamp store while on vacation this summer and couldn’t resist (copper is my favorite metallic).

To apply the glitter, I used Oh So Sticky tape.  I just put the tape all around the image and then cut it out with a craft knife (saved me from measuring – yep – I’m lazy.  I’d rather spend my time coloring than anything else.)

This gave me my sparkly matte around the image and the glitter really seems to stick well to the tape.

fallscenecloseThen I mounted the cut image on to top of the background image with foam tape to create more dimension.

One quick tip – if you go around the cut edges of your image with the side of the marker (to color the cut edge) it does not show if you are not so perfect in your cutting.

I used the sketch from Card Positioning Systems to do the background.  The two circles are embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then inked lightly with Vintage Photo Distress ink and a duster brush.

Here is a picture trying to show the layers.  This is one of those cards that really looks better in person (really… honest….)

The Cuttlebub Challange for this week is a Thanksgiving project.  Think this counts?

Hope everyone has a happy Friday.  (I’m hoping to stamp some more!)
