For the Birthday Sale in the Paper Garden Projects Store this week:

About my card:

I made my sample card using the Elegant Nest Cling set.  All of the images in the set are from Odd Bird Planet.

obpelegnestimagecloseI got my start in the stamping biz with Odd Bird Planet – so that company has a special place in my heart.  Joanna even turned a few of my stamp designs into rubber stamps!  How cool is that?  The flower garland on my sample card (and in the prize pack) was one of my designs.   Johanna has many more cute cute an clever designs by different artists than what is carried in Paper Garden Projects- well worth a look if you have never strolled over.    You can see Odd Bird Planet here.

For my card I stamped the garland twice (overlapping slightly) and stamped the Merci in the middle in Memento Tuxedo ink.  Then I colored it with Copic Markers.  The image is  cut out with a Spellbinders circle die and matted using more scalloped and straight dies.

obpelegnestembosscloseThe strip at the bottom was cut from Core’dinations Chocolate Box cardstock and Embossed using the Cuttlebug Just My Type Embossing Border.  I lightly sanded the embossing to expose the color core paper (fun stuff!).

I can’t wait to see your contest entries (I love flowers!).  And remember – you still have till the 30th to enter the Week 1 contest.

Spring Scrap Card….

bunnycardAfter yesterday’s spring binge, I had a little piece of the patterned paper left over.  I also had this colored bunny image.  So…  what the heck, I put them together….

The bunny and sentiment stamps are from the Hippity Hoppity cling set with images from Eat Cake Graphics.  The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Urban Prairie pad

My image was colored with Copic Markers, but didn’t have a sky.  So I added sky with Distress ink.

maskedbunnyI cut the image out with a circle Nestibility die, embossed it and left the die in place.

Then I covered the image with a mask made from Eclipse paper.  I love this stuff because it is sticky all over the back and the paper is thin but sturdy.  So after I use my mask, I store it in the CD case with the stamps.  That way, I don’t have to cut a new one out next time.

inkedbkgrdI then used Broken China distress ink and stippled it on with a duster brush.  When the sky is as dark as you want it, just remove the die and the mask.

Keeping the die in place will give you a white ring around the image.  I really like that effect.  If I was making the image from scratch, I’d color the “grass” with the die in place so the white went all the way around.

Thanks for stopping by to see my spring scrap card.  Don’t forget our Birthday challenges for a chance at some prizes.

Eureka! I found it!

ecglatecakeWhat did I find?  A new source for a ticket corner punch

I love the ticket corner punch and I was so bummed when EK Success stopped manufacturing it.  Well, Tonic has come out with a new corner punch that is “just the ticket”.  Actually, its more than just the ticket.  Its a duo corner punch.  Its two sided so you get a ticket corner using one side and a tag corner using the other.  Pretty cool – you can see it HERE.

I had to test it out (of course) – so here is the card I made.

I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner but I altered it to make a square card (some people just can’t leave well enough alone….).

The stamps are from the What a Character Cling stamp set with Eat Cake Graphics images.

I was a bit stymied with the third circle in the sketch – I tried a few things and ended up adding a multilayer flower with a brad for my third circle.

I love having white flowers on hand.  These started white and I colored them with my Copics in the same colors I used on the image.  (I like matchy-matchy…).  It also ends up much cheaper for me because I can get all the sizes I want and not have to worry about multiple colors.  The Copics are great because they don’t make the flowers get “soggy” and lose their shape.

So that is my little Abigail card.  Hope everyone has a great day.  I’m hoping to sneak in some stamping today, but I’m supposed to go exercise first (blech…).  I know exercise is supposed to be good for me, and I know I’ll be so glad to be in better shape when spring gardening starts – but I just can’t seem to like it no matter how hard I try  LOL!
