For my part of the Winter Wonderland tour – I’d like to share my little home decor project.  It’s always a kind of sad to take all those Christmas decorations down.  The house looks so plain.  So I made a little  decoration for my fireplace mantel to get through the next wintry month.

This little snow scene uses a whole bunch of the Eat Cake Graphics winter stamps (plus the pine tree).   I love all those little kids – so it was very fun to make!

I started with a chipboard mini-album and some chipboard letters from my stash.  To male the scene, I cut the side tabs off the mini album pages (the pages measured 5″ x 6 3/4″ – but you could change the size to suit your needs).

Before I spent time coloring and carefully cutting out my images, I wanted a rough idea of how many would fit (I really wanted to use them all!).  So I stamped the images and roughly cut them out.  Then I laid them out on scratch paper where I had traced the four panels.  I sketched in my snow line.  Once I knew which images I wanted to use – then I colored them with Copic Markers and cut them out more carefully.

I covered the top 2/3 of the chipboard with paper from the Frosted Winter paper kit.  I wanted the bottom to be snowy hills, so I tore some Neenah Solar white cardstock and chalked the torn edges with a little blue chalk.

I wanted to add an icy pond for my skaters.  Using my sketched template, I traced out a pond on the blue paper from the kit.  I cut it out and rubbed the surface with Brilliance Moonlight White ink.  It has some shimmer in real life.

I covered the chipboard letters with papers from the Frosted Winter kit  – each with a different patterned paper.  Then I mounted each letter on a white circle and a blue scalloped circle – both cut with Nestibilities Dies.  I mounted the letters on the top of my snow scene pages.  To help position them all the same, I laid the page on a grid and used the squares to help me center everything.

The last step was to join the panels together with a little space between them so they could be arranged and stand up on their own.  I used the ribbon from the kit to join the panels together by adhering the ribbon to the back of the panels – again using the grid to help with spacing.

And that is my little winter wonderland project.   I had so much fun making it! For some reason – the theme song from Charlie Brown Christmas was playing in my head the whole time – weird huh?  (At the end of the post is a list of all the stamp sets that I used.)
