Tutorial – Fall Leaf Wreath Project

Hi all,

Sheesh – its been a while since I posted.  Life has been busy, throw in a hurricane and it really gets complex.  We weathered the storm just fine though and feel so grateful not to have the damage some other communities suffered.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  These communities are really suffering.

On a lighter note, I thought I’d share some video tutorials for creating this wreath project:

For this project you will need:

  • A plain grapevine wreath
  • Hot glue gun
  • Ribbon or a pre-made bow
  • Adhesive for paper
  • 5 sheets of printed digital papers (I printed the tone on tone patterns from the Autumn Abundance Craft Kit)
  • 5 sheets of coordinating cardstock
  • A Little Leafy cut files
  • Digital cutter

First – open the cutting files in your cutter software.

If you would like more information on opening the files in Silhouette Studio Software, here are a couple screenshot video tutorials:

Second – cut the 5 different styles of leaves from the printed digital papers and cut mats for the leaves from cardstock.

Here is a video tutorial on how I arranged the leaves for cutting.  I manipulated the leaf cut file document to cut all the mats for the leaves out of card stock by off-setting the outer cut line.  The video describes how to cut the mats as well.

Creating the leaf and mat cut file documents

Once you have all your pieces cut, adhere the leaf cut out to the cardstock mats, centering them.

Then arrange the matted leaves around the wreath, staggering the types and overlapping them.  Once you are happy with your design, hot glue them in place.

All that’s left is to attach the bow to the wreath – and hang it in place.

Here are the products I used to create the wreath (and they are all still on sale through Monday!)

“Into the Woods” Digital Elements and Cutting Files + Freebie

I just love the latest collaboration by the Digichick Designers.  Its called “The Great Outdoors” and its just such a perfect kit for so many of the activities we do as a family.  I loved it so much I decided to add to it.  So I created “Into the Woods“.

This kit is a collection of elements – images, titles, journal cards and a border (plus a bonus patterned paper!) that coordinate with the colors and theme of the collaboration kit.  Because I want my kids to be able to use the elements in their paper scrapbooks, I created Silhouette print and cut files for all the elements and they are included too!

Check out this beautiful page Corrin over at the Digichick made!

Well, not being able to leave well enough alone – I also created a little Facebook Freebie mini-kit that coordinates with both the Into The Woods Element Pack and the Great Outdoors Digichick Collaboration.  I had introduced a wee bit of gold-yellow in my campfire contribution to the collaboration kit – so I though it only fair to add some coordinating papers that include the yellow.  You can download this mini kit for free as a fan of our Facebook Page.   (Just scoot over to the Facebook page, like the page and then click on the Fan Freebies to get your kit).

New- Cutting Files for Homemade Gift Card Holders

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know I have a new product in my Digichick store that I’m pretty excited about – Gift Card Holder Cutting files.  Its on sale right now as a new release.

Its a collection of cutting files to make gift card holders (which I love to give).  There are 3 different versions in the set:  an open scallop edge, a star pattern edge, and a self latching version.  The files include the base (which folds up to make the card pocket), the bands and medallions, and the pattern paper mats.  Its so quick and easy to fold up the base, add a little adhesive to the outside edge of the pockets, and glue on the mats.  Then just add a little stamping or embellishment and your done!

Here is one made with the Watercolor Blossoms kit:

Here is one with the Owl Fall For You kit:

And here is one with the Birthday Buddies kit.

I am just LOVING my Silhouette cutter – its so much fun making these!

Hope everyone in the US had a wonderful 4th of July celebration.  We went to a cookout and saw some wonderful fireworks.  Its supposed to be super hot here today so we are off to tennis and then the pool.

Silhouette Cutting Files – new product sneak peek..

Hi Friends!

Just a quick peek at a new release coming this Thursday.  A set of cutting files this time!

It must be summer – because we’ve started canning.  Not too much yet – 5 quarts of refrigerator dill pickles (Grandma’s recipe) and 4 pints of sweet and spicy pickled beets.

I always get a bit of a thrill when I can can something with produce completely from my vegie garden.  Makes me feel so “Little House on the Prairi -ish”.  LOL!

So I’ve been playing with some photo actions from Charm Box Studios.  They are so fun!  I am not the worlds greatest photographer (as you may have noticed if you’ve been around this blog long.)  So having some photo actions is so helpful.  I used the Bright and Happy action here (because really – who does not want their pickles bright and happy?)

Have a great day (and go pickle something if you can).
